A TMD describes the type of customer who may suit one of our products – based on their needs, objectives, and financial situation (target market).
It also sets out who can distribute our products, how they can do this and situations when we may need to review our products and the target market.
Issuers of financial products, such as Qudos Bank, are required to prepare Target Market Determinations under the Treasury Laws Amendment (Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Powers) Act 2019. This Act sets out obligations designed to assist customers to obtain appropriate financial products by requiring issuers and distributors to have a customer-first approach to designing, marketing and distributing financial products.
Any regulated person engaging in Retail Product Distribution Conduct under the Product Design and Distribution Obligation laws must report information outlined in Target Market Determinations within a specified timeframe to Product Issuers.
