More than half (55%) of all Australians aged 15 and over were exposed to a scam during 2020-21, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data1. These numbers prove that we all must be vigilant and careful with our money.

1. Download the Qudos Bank app

Downloading the Qudos Bank App is quick, easy and free - just visit the Google Play or Apple Store on your device, search Qudos and click install.

To start using the app, you’ll need to register for online banking using your unique online password. If you’ve forgotten it, resetting your password only takes a few minutes and can be done online. Feel free to contact us if you need a hand.

2. Set up alerts

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can set up alerts and adjust how and when you receive them. These alerts can notify you when there are transactions, or when a sign-in happens on a new device.

This can assist to detect scammers and thieves.

3. Always use secure mail when talking to Qudos Bank

If you’ve got questions about your accounts, online banking or cards, it’s always better to use Secure Mail within the Qudos Bank App. Secure Mail is easy to use, quicker than a phone call, and safer than an email.

4. Manage your cards

Credit card fraud cost Australians nearly half a billion dollars2 during the 2020/21 financial year. Mark Jones, Cyber security expert, shares with Finder3 how you can keep yourself safe. Some of his tips include:

● Never save credit card details on browsers when prompted.
● Only enter credit card details on secure sites with a padlock (an HTTPS URL) in the address bar.
● Never share or send credit card details on public networks or computers.
● Only buy online from businesses you know and trust, or who are well-reviewed on public forums.

If you lose your card, it’s important to act quickly. Using the Qudos Bank app, you can quickly report a lost or stolen card or change your pin if you suspect yours isn’t secure enough.

5. Use biometric logins

With the Qudos Bank app, you can choose to login using a pin, fingerprint or facial recognition. While a pin and facial recognition both provide a good level of safety, fingerprint logins are the most secure method available.

6. Always update the app

7. Make sure your devices are secure

Add another layer of security to your online banking by ensuring that your devices are always secure. Add biometric logins to your devices, download security software if you can, and don’t use online banking over public WIFI / networks.

8. Never send your credit card details online

Qudos Bank will never ask you to disclose your pin, CVV, passwords or personal details via email, messenger or over the phone - and neither should anyone else. Don’t give out this information in any circumstances unless you’re logging into online banking or visiting a one of our branches.

9. If you suspect you’ve been a victim of fraud - act fast

If you suspect you’ve been a victim of financial fraud, it’s important to act fast as soon as you suspect or notice something’s wrong. Report your credit card stolen or lost immediately via the Qudos Bank app, or by calling us.
