Today we’re sharing an update on our plans for the future of the Qudos Bank brand, and the next chapter in the journey of our merged bank.
Over the past year we’ve worked closely with our members, employees, and Board to shape our future brand strategy.
This work carefully and thoroughly assessed which brand would best support the future of our merged bank. This included a collaborative research and discovery process with our customers and employees, and deep analysis of the strengths and opportunities of both the Qudos Bank and Bank Australia brands. Importantly, as committed to in our merger Member Information Book, we have involved customers in this process and their feedback has been valuable in informing a decision. I want to thank those members who dedicated their time to contribute to this work.
Following this work, the Board has endorsed a transition to a single brand, with the merged bank operating under the Bank Australia brand from early to mid-2027.
This decision reflects our shared ambition to build a stronger bank for the future.
Coming together under one brand will help us create a clearer and more unified experience for members, strengthen our presence in the market, and support the long-term resilience of our customer-owned bank. It enables us to build on the best of both organisations while creating opportunities to deliver even greater value to members.
While we move forward under the Bank Australia name, the values, relationships and member-first approach that have defined Qudos Bank will continue to shape who we are as an organisation.
For now, it’s business as usual and you’ll continue to bank under the Qudos Bank brand with the same team in place to support you. In the year ahead we’ll begin the transition to the Bank Australia brand in a planned and staged way to minimise disruption for our members and employees.
Importantly, whenever a change affects you, we’ll communicate clearly and in advance. Our commitment is to make this transition as smooth as possible for you.
As we look to the future, we are equally committed to celebrating the history of Qudos Bank and its predecessor, Qantas Staff Credit Union.
Over the year ahead, we’ll invite members to share their stories about the role Qudos Bank has played in their lives. These stories will form a legacy archive that we will maintain and share with the Australian Mutuals Archives.
While the brand name will change, many of the things members value most will remain the same. You’ll continue to be supported by the same teams, with the same focus on customer care, fairness and trust.
This announcement marks an exciting milestone in our merger together as we build a stronger future for all members. We look forward to taking this next step with you, and keeping you informed along the way.
We’ve decided to transition to a single brand and operate solely under the Bank Australia name.
This change will take place in a planned way, aligned with our core banking system migration, and will be completed in early to mid-2027.
Over the past six months, we worked with our employees, Board, executives and customers to develop our future brand strategy.
After careful consideration, engagement and research, we believe the Bank Australia brand offers:
We considered both brands carefully through:
The Board endorsed the Bank Australia brand because it provides the strongest foundation for the future of the merged bank, with greater recognition and reach.
As part of the transition:
While the brand name will change, we remain deeply respectful of Qudos Bank’s important legacy.
At the time of the merger vote, our priority was to provide stability and certainty for members. As set out in the Member Information Booklet, both brands were retained on day one of the merger, and there were no immediate changes to the way members banked.
Since then, we’ve done further work to shape the long term future of the merged bank. This included:
Following that work, the Board endorsed a decision to move to a single brand to support the future of the merged bank.
This doesn’t undo the commitments made at the time of the merger. It reflects the next planned step, made with the benefit of more information and insight, and timed to minimise disruption for members.
Yes, it did.
Over the past year, we’ve engaged with customers, employees, stakeholders and Board members as part of developing our future brand strategy. That engagement, alongside research and analysis, helped inform the decision about which brand would best support the long term success of the merged bank.
The outcome of that process is the Board’s decision to transition to a single brand under Bank Australia, aligned with the core banking system migration in 2027.
We also recognise that for many members Qudos Bank represents decades of loyalty and trust. That’s why we’re committed to:
While the brand name will change, the values, service and people members trust remain at the heart of the bank.
The transition will happen gradually over the next 12 months.
Key dates:
Things will not change overnight, and we will keep you informed of any changes that affect you along the way.
No immediate changes are happening to your accounts, products or services because of the brand decision.
If changes are planned in the future:
Our goal is to minimise disruption for customers at every stage.
There are no changes happening right now.
If any future changes are required as part of the core banking system migration:
No. What will stay the same is our:
You’ll continue to be supported by the teams you know and trust
We’ll communicate regularly and clearly as the transition progresses using:
You won’t be expected to “work things out” on your own.
We understand this decision may be disappointing for some customers.
That’s why we’re:
The archive will be maintained and shared with the Australian Mutuals Archives.
Qudos Bank’s history and values remain an important part of our story, and have actively informed the development of our updated company values.
The legacy of Qudos Bank and the Qantas Staff Credit Union will be formally recognised and preserved as part of this transition.
Our employees remain central to who we are. Our team members working under the Qudos Bank brand will stay with us as we transition to Bank Australia and will continue to support your banking needs.
For team members currently working under the Qudos Bank brand, we’re providing resources, support and training throughout the transition to the Bank Australia brand.
